For the fifth time, the Neuroscience Campus Get Together took place on July 23, 2019. The event is jointly organized by the Hertie Institute for Clinical Brain Research (HIH), the Center for Integrative Neurosciences (CIN), the German Center for Neurodegenerative Diseases (DZNE) and the University’s Hospital of Neurology.

This year, the CIN opened its doors and offered guided lab tours. The tours were followed by the presentation of the "HIH Paper of the Year" award to Dr. Karoline Degenhardt (in the middle) from the "Experimental Neuroimmunology" lab in honor of the best scientific publication from the HIH in 2018. In her work, Degenhardt showed that microglia have an immune memory. Inflammatory stimuli may thus trigger changes in the cells and hereby execute long-term influence on the course of neurological diseases.

After the award ceremony, street food, a cocktail bar, table football and a quiz allowed interesting discussions and exchange in a relaxed atmosphere.
