This privacy policy shall inform you about the processing of your personal data (hereinafter referred to as "data") resulting from visiting our website or using functions thereon.

Our privacy policy is only valid for our websites and not applicable to websites of third parties.

Data protection and data security

The protection of your privacy is very important to us. To protect your data, TRC and the University of Tübingen have taken a variety of technical and organizational measures to effectively prevent unauthorized access and disclosure, manipulation, loss and unauthorized deletion.

The measures we take are subject to constant reviews and updates. We are bound by legal requirements, and strive to follow best practice approaches and technical developments.

Scope of data collection, processing and use

In principle, we pursue the goal of limiting the collection, processing and use of personal data during your visit to our websites to the minimum necessary. Usually, we only collect the data from you that we absolutely need for the fulfilment of the purpose of the website.

We also do not knowingly collect personal data from minors (= persons under 18 years of age). In cases where we determine that personal data was provided to us by minors, we delete this data immediately. We recommend that parents or guardians pay attention to the Internet activities of minors in their care.

Personal Information

According to Art. 4 (General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR,  DSGVO in German), personal data refers to all information relating to an identified or identifiable natural person. This includes, for example, information such as first and last name, address, e-mail address, telephone or mobile phone number, but usually also the IP address.

Purpose of data processing

If you provide us with your personal data voluntarily for the purposes listed below, we process and use this data exclusively for the purposes for which you have provided us with your data. This currently includes the following purposes:

Portals and platforms for data exchange

If you have provided us with your data on portals or platforms accessible via our websites or make them available for retrieval, we process and use the data provided by you exclusively for the purposes for which you provided the data to us. We would like to point out that if the portals or platforms are operated by external website providers, different privacy policies may apply than on our websites. Please inform yourself in advance and also refer to the point "Linked Websites" in this privacy policy.

Improving our online presence

To improve the design and content of our websites, to expand the functions of our online presence and the user-friendliness of our websites, we collect, process and use the following data:

We collect, process and use this data exclusively for the aforementioned statistical and non-commercial purposes in anonymized or pseudonymized form, so that any inference to your person is prevented as far as possible.

Cookies

We use "cookies" on our websites. Cookies are small text files saved on the device from which you accessed our website.

We use both persistent cookies and temporary cookies (so-called "session cookies"). Persistent cookies can be stored on your device for a few seconds to several years. Temporary cookies are automatically deleted as soon as you close your browser or end the session.

Google Web Fonts

Our website uses so-called web fonts provided by Google to uniformly display fonts. When loading a page, your browser loads the required web fonts into your browser cache to display texts and fonts correctly.

To do this, the browser you are using must connect to Google's servers. This gives Google knowledge that our website has been accessed via your IP address. The use of Google Web Fonts is in the interest of a uniform and appealing presentation of our online offers. Facebook

We have integrated the social network "Facebook", which is operated by Facebook Inc. with a so-called "2-click solution" on your website. This means that a note rather than a plugin appears when you loading the pages. To activate the social networking link, click on the icon.  After confirming the 2nd click the plugin will be loaded. The plugins used on our websites are marked with a Facebook logo, a "Like button" or the addition "FacebookSocialPlugin".

When visiting our websites that contain such a plugin, your browser establishes a direct connection between your browser and Facebook's servers. The content of the plugin is transmitted directly from Facebook to your browser and integrated into our website. This integration gives Facebook the information that you have visited our websites with your IP address. If you are logged on to Facebook during your visit to our websites, Facebook allows you to associate your visit to our websites with your Facebook account. If you click the Like button or make a comment while being logged into your Facebook account, the relevant information is sent directly from your browser to Facebook and saved by Facebook. Twitter

Our websites contain functions of the services provided by "Twitter", which are offered by Twitter Inc. YouTube plug-ins and YouTube videos

Our websites contain YouTube plugins or videos published on the platform. YouTube is a service provided by Google Inc. When visiting our websites that contain such a plugin or video, your browser establishes a direct connection between your browser and YouTube's servers and YouTube is informed which of our websites you have visited. YouTube stores cookies on your device.

Our websites use "Google Maps" to display interactive maps on our websites. We have integrated the "Google+"- / "+1"-button of the social network "Google Plus", which is operated by Google Inc. with a so-called "2-click solution" onto our websites. As the website operators, we do not receive any information about the content of the data transmitted to Google or about its use by Google.

Linked Websites

Our websites contain links to external websites. We have no influence on the contents of these websites and therefore accept no responsibility or liability for the admissibility, correctness, presentation and completeness of the contents published or displayed or accessible thereon.

We hereby inform you that when you access these external websites, your IP address may be recorded by the relevant website operator.

Transmission or forwarding of your data

A transmission to third parties or a passing on to our business partners of your data collected, processed or used by us does not take place without your express consent, unless it:

  • is necessary for the processing of our contractually guaranteed services.
  • is necessary to enforce our demands.
  • is legally limited by a statutory offence of permission or we are legally obliged to pass on the data.
  • for purposes of law enforcement, security or protection of our websites.
  • is necessary to enforce the rights of third parties or within the scope of statutory duties to provide information or a court order to provide the information.

Data transmission abroad

Due to our activities, it is not necessary to transfer your data to offices in countries outside the European Union and is therefore not currently taking place.

Right to information

According to Art. 15 GDPR ( DSGVO in German), visitors of our websites have the right to obtain information about their personal data processed in our company at any time and free of charge upon request. The scope of the information arises from Art. 15 GDPR (DSGVO in German).

Right to correct your data

According to Art. 16 GDPR (DSGVO in German), you have the right to request the correction or completion of incorrect or incomplete data. We will review such requests and take the necessary measures in justified cases.

Right to delete and block your data

In accordance with Art. 17 GDPR (DSGVO in German),you have the right to have your data deleted.

The data that we have stored will be destroyed or deleted in accordance with data protection regulations if

  • the legal retention periods have expired, or
  • the collection or processing is or was unlawful, or
  • the data is no longer necessary for the purposes for which it was collected, or
  • if you have revoked your consent for processing and use
  • if you object to the processing of your data pursuant to Art. 21 17 GDPR (DSGVO in German) and there are no overriding legitimate grounds for processing.

We hereby notify you that a complete deletion will only take place after the expiry of the corresponding periods stemming from regulations in tax and commercial law. Until the expiry of these deadlines and until final deletion, your data will be blocked accordingly and will not be processed further.

Right to restrict data processing

In accordance with Art. 18 GDPR (DSGVO in German), you have the right to request the restriction of the processing of your data in the cases and to the extent specified in Art. 18 GDPR (DSGVO in German). We will review such requests and take the necessary measures in justified cases.

Right to data transferability

In accordance with Art. 20 GDPR (DSGVO in German), you have the right to receive your processed data in a structured, common and machine-readable format. At your express request, we will transmit your data to the bodies clearly designated by you, insofar as we are technically able to do so and this is permitted under data protection law.

Right of revocation and objection

You have the right to revoke your consent to the collection, processing and use of your data free of charge at any time and without stating reasons or to object to the processing of your data in accordance with Art. 21 GDPR (DSGVO in German). Right of appeal to a supervisory authority

In accordance with Art. 14 and in conjunction with Art. 77 20 GDPR (DSGVO in German), you have the right of appeal to a data protection supervisory authority if you believe that the processing of your data violates the GDPR (DSGVO in German). The competent supervisory authority is the one, in which our company has its headquarters.

Right to an effective judicial remedy against the person responsible

According to Art. 79 GDPR (DSGVO in German), you have the right to an effective judicial remedy if you are of the opinion that your aforementioned rights have been infringed as a result of processing  your data either by us or a commissioned contractor in a way that does not comply with the requirements set forth in the GDPR (DSGVO in German).

Liability and right to compensation

In accordance with Art. 82 GDPR (DSGVO in German), you are entitled to damages against us or the commissioned contractors us if you have suffered material or immaterial damage as a result of a violation of the GDPR (DSGVO in German).

Changes to the privacy policy This privacy policy will be updated to adhere to new legal requirements or significant changes to the functional scope of our websites. Therefore, we recommend that you read our privacy policy at regular intervals.
